Oscar Pistorius, 28, was found guilty of culpable homicide at a trial in October 2014 for shooting and killing his 29-year-old girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp . The convicted Paralympian will not be released on parole, but will be put under correctional supervision, which is also known as house arrest in South Africa. He will serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest at his uncle’s house, less than one year into a five-year sentence for shooting and killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The world wake up hearing Oscar has been released last night. The decision to move  him from the prison a day early was made by the management of Kgosi Mampuru II prison. In statement the department of correctional services said, “Oscar Pistorius was placed under correctional supervision tonight. The handling of the actual placement is an operational matter of the local management, and how they handle it is their prerogative that is carried out in the best interest of all parties concerned, the victims, the offender and the department of correctional services.”

On 11-12 September 2014 in the High Court of South Africa, Pretoria, Judge Thokozile Masipa delivered a verdict that Oscar Pistorius was not guilty of murder, but guilty of the culpable homicide of Steenkamp and reckless endangerment with a firearm at a restaurant. On 21 October 2014, Pistorius received a prison sentence of a maximum of five years for culpable homicide and a concurrent three-year suspended prison sentence for the separate reckless endangerment conviction.
